Studio Kallang is a design practice by Faezah Shaharuddin working between New York City and Singapore. The studio reinterprets longstanding craft techniques and traditions through a contemporary lens, with a focus on translating cultural memory and fragments into tangible form.

The studio’s work is a result of constant archiving, observation, dialogue and research. Inspired by a Southeast Asian childhood and young adulthood in America, Faezah’s work involves creating unexpected associations to reveal universal throughlines across different cultures and subcultures, with the intention of revealing new ways of understanding and interpreting the world around us.

Born and raised in Singapore, Faezah Shaharuddin is a multidisciplinary designer who developed a taste for design helping her mother with her furniture business. After graduating from the University of Washington School of Art + Art History + Design where she studied visual communication, she returned to Singapore to help out with the family business. Her knowledge and love for interior design ever-growing, she founded her practice as a creative outlet to reconcile the distance between Southeast Asia and the West.
