Founded in 2015, Gozdava 1590 is a South African fragrance house by Agata Karolina. Based in Cape Town, the brand creates plant-based, luxury scents across perfumes, soaps, candles, and home scents, highlighting histories and stories. They work with farmers and suppliers across the African continent and remain deeply committed to sustainable production practices.

Agata Karolina is a trained designer and curator who comes from a line of entrepreneurs. Both of her grandfathers were entrepreneurs, her father had several private practices, and her mother is a haute couture designer turned natural beauty startup owner. After completing a Contextual Design Masters at the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2009, she worked across Europe before returning to Cape Town to pursue her passion for perfumery and natural scents.

Gozdava 1590 works with eco-responsible and sustainable farms and suppliers in Southern Africa and across the African continent. All materials are ordered directly and the brand works in a small-batch production to ensure no wastage occurs. Any production materials sourced abroad are not available on the African continent.
