Lørdag & Søndag

Lørdag & Søndag is a Mexico City–based design studio founded in 2011 by brothers Salvador and Enzo Compañ. They work closely with master artisans from various regions of Mexico to develop pieces called Artefactos that blend traditional techniques (weaving, fiber, stonework, wood, volcanic rock etc.) with clean, modern and timeless design aesthetics. Their work draws inspiration from Mexico’s rich cultural heritage—pre-Columbian art, archaeology, and regional craft—while steering forms towards sculptural, unusual, and refined objects.

Meet Salvador and Enzo Compañ

Salvador and Enzo Compañ grew up in Campeche, Mexico, in a household where design, travel and craft were part of daily life. Salvador studied International Business while Enzo pursued Visual Arts. Their father practiced architecture and their mother worked in nature photography, giving them early exposure to spatial thinking and visual sensitivity. The brothers draw deeply on Mexico’s cultural heritage—ancient art, indigenous materials, archaeology—and combine that with contemporary art references to produce work that feels rooted yet forward-looking.

Story & Highlights

FOUNDERS: Salvador and Enzo Compañ

TEAM: Founders + different artisan communities

LOCATION: HQ in Mexico City, production all over Mexico

MATERIALS: Natural fibers, wool, stonework, wood, volcanic rock

Lørdag & Søndag works closely with master artisans across Mexico, collaborating with craft communities in Oaxaca, Chiapas, Estado de México, Querétaro, Veracruz, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Guerrero, Jalisco and Campeche. Each piece is produced using local, inherited techniques - from intricate fiber weaving to ancestral carving and metalwork, ensuring cultural preservation and dignified work for the artisans involved. Rather than centralizing production, the brand intentionally maintains a geographically diverse network of artisans, so that every “Artefacto” carries not just a design identity, but the imprint of the region and the hands behind it.
