Ensamble Artesano is a non-profit platform, designed as a space for exchange and collaboration to combat the economic uncertainty for artisans in Mexico precipitated by the pandemic. Today, it supports more than three thousand artisans across 22 states in Mexico, in partnership with 83 organizations. It has evolved into an important hub, forging collaborative networks to strengthen the craft sector.

Their objective, in addition to preserving and celebrating artisan creation as well as promoting innovation in traditional design, is to give recognition and reinforce the maintenance of formal and fair value chains that have created horizontal work links and that guarantee a source of income for indigenous and rural communities in Mexico.

Ensamble Artesano

TEAM: Collaboration of Mexican artisan all across the country.

LOCATION: Mexico.

MATERIALS: Natural fiber, metal, textile, stone, clay.

TECHNIQUE: Mexican basketry, embroidery, modeling clay.

IMPACT: Promoting artisan creation and reinforce the maintenance of formal value chains that have created horizontal work links and guarantee a source of reliable income for communities of Mexican artisans.

We work with

Mexican artisans. Ensamble Artesano directly supports +5,000 artisans who celebrate and preserve the cultural heritage of our country through the techniques they work. Once you buy a piece the money goes straight back to the craft communities through the 'strengthening fund' used for a capacity building program developed in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme.

The Norogachi Earrings are woven with two needles by the Raramuri artisan women belonging to ESMAS (Empresas Sociales de Mujeres Artesanas): Social Enterprises of Artisan Women.

The women crafters are from Semati Koroka, from the community of Norogachi, in the municipality of Guachochi, Chihuahua, in the Sierra Tarahumara. 

 

Size: Length 7 cm, width 1.27 cm

Color variants: Lime green and brown, orange and pink

Material: Beads

Use wet wipes or a damp cloth to clean, followed by a dry cloth or jewellery polishing/ micro fiber cloth. Avoid pulling earrings.
