This bag by Elmina-based design brand Aketekete is handwoven by artisans in the communities in Sumbrungu, Northern Ghana.
An eye-catching tiny handbag sparkles with a hint of tie and dye fabric on a woven body. The oval body gives this mini-bag an air of refined elegance that is enhanced by the netting details. Wear with everything and anything, Ayine Bag Mini is our new favorite.
The founders, Maria and Micheal state about their brand: "Aketekete is the name of a traditional festival from Elmina, Ghana, in which rituals are performed to connect with ancestors and celebrate their roots. It is an ode to the past and to never be forgotten—a connection to nature and its forms. To celebrate culture, origins, and stories otherwise lost. We value collaborating and connecting with creatives to design modern objects with age-old techniques by supporting artisan communities to make them."
Size: 16 cm height, 24 cm length.
Material: straw sourced in Ghana, hand-dyed tie-dye cotton lining with drawstring closure and cloth handle.

Please note that all bags are handmade and each piece is unique so slight variations may exist in colors, pattern, size, and shape. Each product at Aketekete is made to order by our local artisans and could require up to two weeks for production.
