By Colombian design brand Matamba. 

This Tote Bag is hand weaved in natural fique fiber, using the crochet technique. It was co-created with the traditional community from Curití, Santander, located in the northeast of Colombia in the Andean region.

This piece is woven and dyed by hand, therefore there may be slight changes in color tone or exact measurements.

It takes approximately 3 days to weave. This is a basic and functional piece to use as your everyday bag or as a weekend tote for a short getaway.

We recommend storing in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid contact with water or moisture and away from excess heat. Remove stains or spots with a damp cloth and soap dabbing the stain spot with the cloth.

Meet Matamba

Jennibeth Iguarán, industrial designer, and Juanita Gil, fashion and textile designer, met while working with artisan communities. They toured various territories exploring Colombian traditions, crafts, techniques, and raw materials. After this experience, MATAMBA was born to continue highlighting and preserving the country’s craftsmanship.
