A new, biodegradable, and environmental-friendly silk alternative
Rose fiber is a vegan and eco-friendly silk substitute. This biodegradable cellulose fiber is made from the natural waste of rose stems. It obtains its lustrous texture through a soft spinning creational procedure. Roses are a natural skin toner and thus help the skin to soothe and cool down. With a look into a biodegradable future, this fabric is not only turning waste into a new luxurious material, but it is also a kinder and better solution that allows the sustainable wear of this smooth material.
Rose fiber is handspun and requires a tight twist on the smallest whorl-size wheel due to its slippery thread. On the other hand, this also signifies a versatile material that can be combined with other fibers without difficulties. Once it has reached its final stage, the fabric becomes highly resistant, making it machine washable and pilling resistant. The final color of the yarn is a natural white, no bleaching is needed and it can be dyed with natural rose powder.

In comparison, traditional silk production harms the environment in several ways. The most common issue is the sacrifice of the silk moths. As the worms are bred, they extensively need to be fed and often treated with chemicals such as pesticides, fungicides, synthetic fertilizers, and herbicides followed by bleaching and chemical dying of the fabric.
Unlike traditional silk, rose fiber is biodegradable and represents no harm to the water or soil. This fiber also maintains some of the roses’ properties, like antioxidants. They retain coolness and are encouraged for sensitive skin.

Circularity must be the future. We have to operate in a way where what we take from this earth, we give back.”
